I love this slide show. Brings back a lot of memories. The boys are so full of life. To watch them as they grow is fun and impressive. We band of brothers is not just a word but a fact. They prove they can live a full and happy life not in spite of everything but rather because of who they are. I liked the photo of your Dad. A lot of wheel power there for sure. A lot to love.

Thank you John for visiting the site. You’ve known many of these young men from when they were young and witnessed them grow not only physically, but emotionally, and as they figured out ways to conquer some of the most extreme physical limitations of any human being. You mentioned my dad, well, I could never have asked for better role models of grandparents to special needs children than my parents. Both my mother and father accepted each one for who he was and these are memories I cherish forever of my parents. Marian

It is lovely to see all the photos of the guys when they were little! Thanks for sharing these memories.

Yep, weren’t they cute and innocent when younger! Just like I was with my curly, dark hair and sparkling, clear eyes! What happened? No, seriously, it’s been an emotional process for me to put these photos together and share with others who want to know about the family. Most of the time I don’t think of my family in numbers because I see each son as individuals with completely different personalities. And, that’s how it should be. Marian

Hello, Marian and all, WOW! I looked at the pictures and smiled and laughed at the same time. I remember when Ben was a baby and I held him, and many of the other children. Seems like a forever ago. What a mission and blessing you have been to the children as I am sure they have been to you. God surely will give you high rewards when you get to heaven and I’m sure Miss Nellie (my mother) and your parents are helping get it ready, when the Lord is ready! I think of you so much and Bonnie and I speak of you often. You have surely sacrificed a lot for your family, but I’m sure there is much reward in each day. Take care and God Bless, Nancy

    • Marian says:

Thank you, Nancy, for your moving words and perception on my life. As you said, I have sacrificed a lot and well, I feel my biggest sacrifice is the inability to travel as I once did. These sons who are still living at home are not small and it’s not easy to just pick up and go as I once did. But, I have truly been rewarded thousands of times over from my sons with how they have developed and enjoyed life under my care. It’s such a rewarding life. Marian

    Hi Marian,

Absolutely a neat group you have. I’m honored to have met you and the boys/Men in your household. You are unique, and unending fountain of positive energy. You have paid it forward for millions of others, not just in who you are and what you do. But you also knock at the hearts of countless others. Thanks for waking something in me, forever in debt to you.
